Add a QR code to your business card

Turn a paper business card into a trackable introduction. Send new contacts to your portfolio, WhatsApp, booking page or contact card — and see who scanned.

Short answer

Put a dynamic QR code on the back of the card that opens your portfolio, WhatsApp, booking page or a contact card (vCard). Print it at least 20 mm wide with a clear margin, and test one card with a phone first. Because the code is dynamic, you can change where it points later without reprinting, and see how many people scanned.

A business card has room for a name and two lines. A QR code gives it room for everything else: your portfolio, your booking calendar, your WhatsApp, your vCard, or your link-in-bio page.

Because the code is dynamic, the card you hand out at a networking event can point to your latest work, and next quarter you can point it somewhere new without reprinting a single card.

How to add a QR code to a business card

  1. 1 Create a QR code and name it after the run of cards, for example "2026 conference cards".
  2. 2 Choose what it opens: a website, a WhatsApp chat, your ZELF page, or a downloadable contact card (vCard).
  3. 3 Download the PNG at print resolution and place it on the back of the card with a short "Scan to connect" line.
  4. 4 After the event, check scan stats to see how many people followed up, then retarget the code for your next campaign.

What a business card QR code can open

Conference networking

Point the code at your link-in-bio so one scan covers your portfolio, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and booking link.

Save-my-contact card

Use a vCard destination so a scan saves your name, number, email and website straight to their phone.

Tradesperson callout

A code on the bakkie or quote sheet that opens a WhatsApp chat with a pre-filled message.

Frequently asked questions

Will the code still work if I change jobs?

Yes. Update the destination in ZELF and every card already in circulation follows. The printed code is unchanged.

How small can I print it?

For a business card, keep the code at least 20 mm across and leave a clear margin around it. Test one print run with a phone before bulk printing.

Can it open WhatsApp instead of a website?

Yes. Choose the WhatsApp destination and add a pre-filled message so the scan opens a ready-to-send chat.
